oogsten
The truth lies not in the answers, but in the spaces between them. Where mystery, ambiguity, and open-ended dialogue offer a chance to reimagine the way we see society and ourselves.

“oogsten” creates space for uncertainty, curiosity, and the unspoken genuineness that lies between binary choices. With the aim to challenge the instinct to label and categorize, but instead embracing the fluidity and complexity of human experience.

The Collective:

“oogsten” is an interdisciplinary video art collective founded by Tijmen Budding, Kees de Gooijer and Lola Noor Donkers. With a focus on conceptual exploration, they prioritize theory and relevance, building their projects from a foundation of critical thought and collective inquiry. The trio embarks on each project by deep-diving into research to establish a conceptual framework that guides their creative process.

The collective operates as a cohesive unit, blending their individual expertise in for example video production, installation art, sound design, and performance. Everyone contributes their skills while remaining open to overlap and collaboration, allowing the disciplines to intersect organically. Their process is fluid and non-hierarchical, with each artist contributing equally and intuitively to the evolution of a piece. This dynamic approach creates a synergy where ideas can flow freely, resulting in immersive, multi-layered works that challenge the boundaries of video art.

The Artists:

Kees de Gooijer
videographer, digital artist, illustrator

“For me, the work has to come from a strong personal connection. Once that is there, I can’t really stop working. Nor do I want to.”

Lola Noor Donkers
actress, musician, writer

“It makes no sense to pretend like I have answers. Nowadays everything is so complex, layered and double, that I would much rather look for questions.”

Tijmen Budding
computer artist, musician

“I use my work to find understanding for my own experiences. Finding meaning in those defining moments of disintegration. Art is essential to who we are as living beings.”
